The state’s high court has denied a request to dismiss a lawsuit by the state attorney general’s office and its staff to dismiss the state’s gun laws.
Attorney General Mike Morrissey filed the lawsuit on behalf of three Alabamians who were injured in a shooting at a home party by a man who also had a concealed-carry permit.
The state has not shown cause why the suit should be dismissed.
Morrissey’s office had argued in court papers that the law was unconstitutional.
The suit was filed on behalf by two women who are suing the state for violating their rights to life, liberty, and property.
The plaintiffs are represented by attorney Robert T. McCallum of Alabama’s attorney general office.
